Andrew and Baba, have been teaching, coaching and instructing sport to children both here in Switzerland, UK and Nigeria, for the last 15 years where we coached children from all over the world. We are experienced head coaches and have worked with schools and private companies in the Zurich and Zug areas. In addition Andrew has experience working with early years and special needs coaching and have worked with children from 18 months old upwards. We are both qualified J & S coaches and have a verity of other coaching qualifications that we would be happy to show you when asked.

Our aim is to encourage children to enjoy sport, exercise and activities with an emphasis on fun from the start.

Multi skills in multi sport.

Multi sport and multi skills is designed as an introduction to activities and sport this provides a non-sport specific, fun, challenging and enjoyable starting point for children’s involvement in sport. Children experience and develop the basic movement skills (physical Literacy) needed for a variety of physical activities and sports through a mixture of fun mini-games and technique-specific elements. These sessions enhance agility, balance and co-ordination skills, increasing confidence and communication and are tailored to the abilities, learning styles and age group being taught.

The 2020 WHO guidelines call for children and adolescents to accumulate at least an average of 60 min of MVPA per day (mostly aerobic physical activity). They also recommend that vigorous physical activities and muscle and bone strengthening activities should each be incorporated at least 3 days per week. This new guideline is similar to physical activity guidelines from most countries (e.g., Canada [17], Australia [20], USA [22], UK [46]) and in line with the previous WHO physical activity guidelines released in 2010 [1]. However, it is now explicit in the guidelines that children can accumulate physical activity through an average of 60 min of MVPA per day and not necessarily on all 7 days of the week. As studies have broadly used an average threshold of 60 min per day, not a minimum daily threshold of 60 min, to assess the benefits of physical activity on health outcomes, the recommendation was updated in recognition of the evidence and the ways that physical activity is measured in children and adolescents [17]. Please refer to Table 4 for the 2020 WHO physical activity guidelines for children and adolescents.https://ijbnpa.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12966-020-01037-z

The five main areas that multi skills helps to develop and improve are

  1. Physical: Developing the child’s movement capabilities and fitness levels.

  2. Technical: Developing the skills and techniques required to play a range of games, activities or sports.

  3. Tactical: Developing the child’s knowledge of ‘how to’ play the games and their ability to solve challenges in sports, games and other activities.

  4. Mental: Developing the child’s mental capabilities including their decision-making skills.

  5. Personal-Social: Developing the child’s confidence, ability to build relationships, respect for rules and others, and their ability to find their own solutions to problems.
